Duke University Libraries Magazine
From the Nominator
Duke University Libraries Magazine is published twice per year, fall/winter and spring/summer. It is distributed to more than 3,000 library donors, friends, Duke administrators, library staff, and peer library directors. Each issue of the magazine includes updates on library collections, new projects and services, upcoming exhibits and events, significant grants and donations, and in-depth stories on various aspects of our work. Although it is one of several different channels we use to engage our audiences, the magazine remains an important pillar of our communications program, and library supporters regularly tell us how much they appreciate it.
From the Judges
Duke University Libraries Magazine offers outstanding pieces of writing in the stories, “R.I.P. (Rest in Perkins),” and “One Duke Nation, Indivisible.” These more substantive pieces were complemented by the pieces, “How to Build a Better Book Cart,” “Close Reading: Pay Day Durham,” and “Solving the Mystery of Tree Number One.” This collection was great to read overall. The variety of content and quality of writing are deeply compelling.
