From the Nominator
Metropolitan State University of Denver has had a daily employee newsletter for more than a decade. But over time, The Daily had grown stale and ineffective. The Daily had no imagery, and its headlines were either not engaging or so “clever” no one understood them. Faculty and staff complained that the information provided was neither timely nor relevant to their work on campus. With The Daily’s readership steadily declining, MSU Denver leadership knew a massive overhaul was in order.

We really liked the simplicity and scannability of this newsletter -- it gives people with busy days and full inboxes the information they most need without overwhelming them. The headlines and news intros let the reader know quickly and succinctly what each piece is about, which is key to an efficient read. We appreciated the fact that this small and nimble communications team did user research before redesigning rather than just guessing what users wanted. Professor's Room was a real stand-out... a creative approach to introducing the community to faculty members.
