The First 100
From the Nominator
International schools have highly transient communities. As a result, these schools tend to have short institutional memories. Community members focus more on the here-and-now. This was true at Shanghai American School, where our students had won an impressive amount of Asia Pacific Activities Conference Championships. Yet, no one knew how many we’d won since the conference launched in 1995, as record-keeping was highly incomplete. By researching the results, we discovered SAS was quickly closing in on 100 APAC Championships—the first school to do so. Soon, we established a countdown and developed a competition for our students over which team would win the 100th.
From the Judges
The header font nicely echoes the stylized logo. The symmetry and consistency of the line art in the individual awards and icons lends to a strikingly simple and clean design. The foil work adds to the design feeling as special as this accomplishment is to the school. A unique design concept to celebrate and promote school excitement for sports and extracurricular activities. Precisely crafted illustrations and icons arranged symmetrically create a pleasant and precise pattern many would frame and hang.
