Full Charge Ahead: The Caltech Effect on Batteries
From the Nominator
This CASE entry is a 44-second animated video, Full Charge Ahead. The objective of the video is to educate and entertain viewers with a glimpse of Caltech’s pioneering research: an innovative way to build batteries with nanoarchitecture (imagine a dust-mite sized Eiffel Tower). A narrator describes the pioneering approach of Caltech faculty member Julia Greer while lively animation helps viewers visualize the scale and properties of the materials that are formulated in her lab.
From the Judges
The panel enjoyed this nicely done short explanatory video. It gives the viewer a chance to see and hear how the batteries are transformed because of superior research. Very much embedded in the accompanying text, so difficult to view on its own. Its high production qualities stood out and deserve recognition.
