GW Magazine
From the Nominator
Two issues of GW Magazine from 2018, including an entire issue dedicated to the theme of “power”—stories of encounters with power in various forms, what it’s like to wield power and to have it wielded against you; plus a profile of three-Michelin-star chef Patrick O’Connell, whose 40-year-old Inn at Little Washington remade a rural town into a gastronome’s paradise; and the story of an alumna who defies her past to build a site called “Craigslist Confessional,” an index of trauma—dealt and endured—that strangers share with her and ask her to divulge.
From the Judges
A magazine full of topical features yet with enough design space that it is not crowded. Judges loved the cover featuring the Lord of Little Washington: a chef, yet presented in a completely non-chef visual context. That freshness and the interesting topics engaged us even when we have no affiliation with GW. One judge wants to subscribe!
