NDWorks: Putting on Three Big Events Will Take Teamwork
From the Nominator
NDWorks is the newspaper for the University of Notre Dame faculty/staff. The August/September 2018 issue is the “back-to-school” edition, with information to help employees kick off the year feeling informed on University news as well as employee benefits, campus services (e.g., restaurants and dry cleaning), safety considerations, entertainment and fitness opportunities, and campus community events (e.g., the annual picnic and opening Mass).
From the Judges
NDWorks is a really well-executed publication. Notre Dame does a lot with its resources and is successful with a modest approach. We liked how user-friendly the publication is and how effectively it communicates university priorities to faculty and staff in an engaging, news-you-can-use way. A smaller budget used very well. The profiles are well done and artfully chosen to feature optimal community diversity and breadth. The nomination form admirably made the case for why the publication is needed in print form for those employees who lack access to a computer and don’t work at a desk all day. NDWorks is very successful at making the case for university employees to be informed advocates for the institution while enhancing their sense of community and affinity. Clearly this is a communication that is done strategically with great care and hard work. Bravo!
