PSU Day of Giving — November 28, 2018

On November 28, 2018, Portland State University hosted its second annual PSU Day of Giving, a flash campaign focused on raising support for Portland State University—from the ground up. This special day of giving is all about empowering our PSU community to show their support for the programs and groups across campus they care about most. Instead of top-down fundraising campaign this is an inclusive program that seeks to build a wide base of support across many lines of participation using the power of social media and crowdfunding to reach new audiences.
From the Judges
Portland State University’s 2018 giving day was mission driven and embodied the culture and values of the institution. Their strategy to use their giving day to pre-launch campaign messaging was intentional and supportive of broader institutional goals. The marketing collateral had a consistent look and feel that was fun and engaging. PSU developed all components of an integrated giving day program while keeping costs to a minimum. They far exceeded their stated goals while collaborating with departments, organizations, and schools all across campus. The panel was particularly impressed with their social ambassadors program. Overall this entry demonstrated exceptional planning, exciting messaging, and strategic use of resources.
