Stanfordmag.org
From the Nominator
Stanfordmag.org was built to provide a mobile-first, exciting and intuitive digital magazine for all Stanford alumni, and especially to give our young alumni a sense that this is “for them.” Feedback from young alumni helped us iterate on our navigation and design swiftly, and the result is a site organized with the reader experience in mind. The site de-prioritizes internal and print rubrics in favor of a simple user experience that makes sense for our online readers, including options to view the latest stories or just essays. The site also includes a new category of content—Advice—that our young alums said they craved, and also features high-treatment, custom articles that break out of our standard templates to provide readers a very special digital experience.
From the Judges
This digital magazine stood out for its digital-first approach and continual online publishing. It’s pushing the boundaries of what it means to be an online magazine and news source in a crowded media landscape. Online content is curated and packaged for print publications, which allowed for a revamp of workflow and processes. The site allows users easy access to full archive and topical sections and gives Stanford the flexibility to produce themed sections.
