This issue takes the reader on a journey through Los Angeles city limits including an exploration of the future of our sprawling city as it undergoes a renaissance that embraces attributes it once spurned. In "Talk the Talk," a gritty design and bright color palette match the uniqueness of language evolution in what is often described as a melting pot of cultures and creativity. We drew inspiration from the aesthetic and the evolution of Colby Poster Printing Company and their iconic posters, which boldly speak to commuters as they move around the city.

This entry was colorful and busy without being overwhelming. Excellent creative illustration that, along with the headline, clearly tells the reader what the story is about. There is always a risk in using an illustration with text–it can often butt heads with the text, and with other headlines. This entry managed to expertly manage the "text situation" while also allowing for a clear design.
