From the Nominator
When overfishing led to a decline in the red snapper population along the coast, The University of Georgia stepped in to help fishermen diversify with clams and oysters. “UGA Helps Coastal Fisheries” is a short documentary featuring Charlie Phillips, a struggling fisherman who became the most successful clam farmer in Georgia. This video was part of an initiative to showcase how UGA helps economic prosperity for all Georgians, including coastal Georgia aquaculture.
From the Judges
We loved the narrator who shared his journey with us in an unvarnished, authentic way. The writers did a great job of condensing weighty subject matter into something understandable and relatable, and the cinematography was stunning.
