From the Nominator
Our recent rebranding position ("Fashion Institute of Technology nurtures unconventional minds") was the cornerstone for these publications. The brand is reflected in the unusual design, with its varied page sizes, the innovative use of interstitials for related and featured information, paper stocks, vibrant colors, striking photography, and dynamic typography.
The brochure is used by admissions counselors at college fairs, portfolio days, and other recruitment events to provide a quick, exciting, snapshot of FIT’s breadth of programs, the relevance of our New York City location, and what is surprising about the college.
The viewbook is an artful, informational, and unconventional publication that is given out to prospective students and their parents who come to visit the campus (mostly for our semiweekly campus tours and information sessions) and for our major open house events in the fall.
From the Judges
FIT wanted to rebrand and stand out at student college fairs—and it did that with this piece! Understanding its target audience, FIT sought to attract “unconventional minds.” This brochure stood out and it provided a clear image of the type of people who would fit in at FIT. Everything about the piece was visual and engaging—the illustration of tabs provided enough direct to attract interest, and design did not compromise content. The use of chrome coat, paper texture, color, and photography enhanced this publication. The mirror effect from the chrome coat gave a “see yourself here” theme.
