The holiday incentive for 2019 was a set of customized tumblers that could serve as collector’s items or be gifted by donors. They were created in collaboration with the direct response team to encourage alumni giving to the university and to remind donors of the impact of their gift. With each gift of $55 or more, the donor would receive a boxed set of uniquely designed tumblers in a beautifully decorated gift box. The incentive could only be received by making a gift and has the potential to be replicated every year to build a collection among followers.

But the University of Chicago is proving the naysayers wrong with these elegant tumblers! There is so much to love here. Even if you don’t celebrate one of the major December holidays, there will surely be plenty of opportunities to pour something delicious into these beautiful glasses and curl up by the fire. The grotesques are a perfect choice for anyone who is affiliated with the University of Chicago. We gave high marks to the smartly designed box, which boasts an appropriately Gothic font and a cool rock-and-roll vibe. But smartest of all: the university plans to add to the collection each year, allowing donors to continue to donate at this level so they can build a collection of these lovely tumblers.
