From the Nominator
Key to the design of this feature is a single master illustration, which kicks off the article’s opening 2-page spread. The vintage illustration style and bright colors are vibrant and engaging, and portray an active and energetic campus community buzzing with networking opportunities. Vignettes show the outcomes of campus connections, such as internships, leadership activities, study abroad, and one-on-one interactions with faculty members. And images of the iconic Main Building of our Austin campus and our partner university in Angers, France, portray our local and global identity.
From the Judges
Creative use of custom illustration. This was one of the few entries that provided goals/objectives, which was extremely helpful. Judges liked that the custom illustration was purposely created with other uses in mind and was adopted for other channels. We imagine this piece would work very well for admissions and marketing. Strong print quality and nice pacing. While design and illustration were strong and well done, they were not particularly innovative. Could have benefited from more white space and/or more creative use of columns on text pages.
