The Edge of Achievement, UVic Annual Review
From the Nominator
This re-imagined annual review for UVic is organized around the six priorities of the university's Strategic Framework, which was launched in Fall 2018. The first three priorities are also the key elements of the university's brand—the UVic Edge—while the three additional priorities focus on historical strengths that continue to inspire progress across the institution. This publication continues the public-facing annual review sequence launched in 2000, with key audiences among donors, funders, and other partners in government, industry, and the community. It is intended to build on (and overlap the content and aspirational goals of) the university's fall institutional leaders' campaign, targeting key audiences of decision-makers in Canadian industry and government. This year's publication was a major change from the prior three years editions, which were strongly templated 16-page publications.
From the Judges
The University of Victoria’s annual review has really clean design, nice use of photography and color, and short snappy copy. We were surprised to discover in the accompanying materials that this report is actually longer than usual. The report does an effective job of displaying the breadth of what the university offers and showcasing its faculty and students. It has engaging photography and compelling, large layouts. It is nicely organized and enjoyable to read.
