Fake Meats Are Hot. But Are They Healthy?
From the Nominator
In the fall of 2019, BU Today reporter Megan Woolhouse noticed a trend that had already been sweeping the country began to pop up on college campuses around the country: fake meat. Impossible Burger, Beyond Burger, and other faux meats were suddenly everywhere, from Burger King to supermarket aisles, moving the veggie burger business way beyond those frozen black bean burgers that had been the standard for so long. Woolhouse reported and wrote a story and learned how BU students were demanding that dining halls improve the options for these better faux burgers. And ultimately, her story captured this movement, exploring whether it was really about health, or veganism, or politics, or something else entirely.
