From the Nominator

This video follows Misael Beltran-Guzman ’22, who came to Colby College through QuestBridge, a program that matches high achieving students with full scholarship opportunities. A first-generation student from Toledo, Ohio, Misael invited us into his life at home and on campus to show how the opportunity to break down barriers and attend college has been life-changing for him and his family.

From the Judges

This was an emotionally compelling video that benefited from appropriate pacing, diversity of video footage, and strong music choices. The video included great soundbites as well as strategic use of montages of past photos that really helped tell the story. The shot of Misael backlit by the stained glass window was stunning. His mother was so sweet and genuine; her love and support really came through in the interview.
