Michigan Engineering Majors Mapping
From the Nominator
The Michigan Engineering majors website is a comprehensive, interactive, student-centered tool to help prospective, admitted and undeclared Michigan Engineers make wise choices about their academic and professional futures. Conceived by Senior Director of Leadership Engagement Sandra Hines, and created by intern Nayri Carmen in under four months, the site has proven impactful short term and supportive of our long-term majors rebalancing effort.
From the Judges
The key to prioritizing content for your audience is to involve your audience in the plan. The University of Michigan did just that and hired an intern who worked 300+ hours on content creation and organization. This work was the key contributor to a website that is clean, well-focused, and creative to their needs and audience. It also features a unique display on “what you can do with an engineering degree.” Not only is it engaging but it is a fun tool and a great way to display this type of information to potential engineering majors. The site stats were impressive, with 22,500 unique users, 78,000 page views, and an average time of three minutes and 18 seconds per user. People liked the site and so did we!
