This video tells the story of St. John's alumnus Carvens Lissiant. A successful actor who has been in Hamliton, Carvens was once homeless and performing poetry on the NYC subway. In this video, Carvens talks about his life, offers advice to other students, and shares how his St. John’s education shaped him into the man he is today.

The storytelling and messaging of “not waiting” is strengthened by Lissaint’s actual experiences of perseverance and creativity. This is a powerful piece that rises to merit and recognition because it is a heartfelt portrait of personal and academic excellence.
