The Ripple Effect: Westminster's 2018-19 Report on Philanthropy
From the Nominator
Physically, “The Ripple Effect” looks and feels more like a book than a traditional annual report, thanks to design decisions that invite readers in and content that tells the story of our growing culture of philanthropy from many perspectives. Annual features, such as the school’s operating budget and philanthropic profile, were reimagined as infographics. Alumni and donor interest stories were produced to be snackable, quote-rich stories that highlighted how even the most intentional philanthropy can create ripples far beyond present imagination. Internally, “The Ripple Effect” was a deeply collaborative endeavor as an office-wide task force articulated a vision and then led five teams to produce content that was distinct in purpose and similar in tone.
From the Judges
This report was effortlessly engaging. Maximizing color and white space simultaneously, and making great use of 'snackable' vignettes and imagery, the 'ripple effect' of engagement and philanthropy were evident throughout the report. The theme anchored the piece, but in a subtle manner. The inclusion of donor lists is balanced with contextual content and media. The use of color in the graphics, coupled with the photography, is very effective. The design is incredibly clean and draws you in and makes you want to keep reading.
