UAlbany’s Digital Global Impact Map tells the story of the university's impact around the world, and was designed to accompany the cover story of the fall 2019 UAlbany magazine, International Excellence. The cover story features alumni living and working around the globe, and highlights education abroad, international faculty and students at UAlbany, international research, and public engagement. The Digital Global Impact Map enhances the article by providing readers with an interactive website where they can further explore UAlbany’s international impact in more than 400 locations. The digital map also highlights photos and video content for several programs. The digital map was the most effective way to create an immersive experience that organizes and shares this information, while making it visually appealing and easy to navigate. Viewers can filter the locations by area of interest, school or college, photo and video content, or use the search bar to explore how UAlbany is having an impact around the globe.

As soon as you land on UAlbany's digital Global Impact Map, the global impact is clear: There are icons on every continent, and clusters in all of the major centers of the world. The ability to self-select and filter through the types of data gives visitors a "choose your own adventure" option that allows them to interact with the map how they want. The information is concise and inviting, using tons of micro-stories and factoids to present a large amount of data without even using numbers.
