From the Nominator

This public service announcement was produced in-house by the Marketing and Communications team to assist in the promotion of the Symposium in Honor of Paula Giddings. Our goal was to reach the students by helping them to understand the magnitude of the event, how the book has transformed the lives of women of color, and inspire them to attend the event. We partnered with female Student Government Association leaders to recite quotes from notable women.

From the Judges

Moving, powerful, and unapologetic about its feminist stance. The use of a dramatic black and white aesthetic feels appropriate and adds to the strength of all the quotes by female African-American students. Shot entirely in what is obviously a single room with a backdrop and one camera only, this is a powerful and valuable PSA that goes beyond the utility of promoting one event. A beautiful and strong community message that should serve as a model for other efforts or events around the country.
