2021 Community Awards Banquet Video
From the Nominator
The University of Alberta, Augustana Campus Office of Advancement respectfully submits for consideration in this category the special stewardship video we created for our annual Community Awards Banquet. This year, due to the pandemic, the Community Awards Banquet was transitioned to the virtual space, and offered our celebration through the Zoom platform.
Typically, we gather 300+ award donors, student award recipients, and staff/faculty volunteers in a celebration of donor generosity and student achievement on campus over a shared meal and short program, where we thank our donors for their generosity and honour students for their achievements. This also allows donors and student award recipients to meet. Although an in-person event was not possible for this year's event, we knew it remained imperative that our donors and students have the opportunity to connect—even if not in real-time or in person—and that our donors were stewarded and our students were honoured.
Thus, we were inspired to create a stewardship video, comprised of donors, students, staff, and faculty, that we unveiled at the virtual event!
Note: Augustana Campus is a small campus of the University of Alberta. We are located approximately an hour southeast of Edmonton, AB, in the city of Camrose. Our campus offers a liberal arts and sciences undergraduate education to 1,050 students from 170 Alberta communities, across Canada, and as many as 40 countries.
From the Judges
We liked this video's authenticity, that donors and students tell their stories themselves, and that the stories are really well connected: this video tells a story like it's a patchwork quilt.
