Unique in the coffee community as the first university research center to address the global challenges and opportunities facing the industry through a multidisciplinary, comprehensive approach to coffee science and education, the Coffee Center is pursuing a bold vision to become the world’s premier hub for research-based expertise in coffee science and sustainability. This case statement is skillfully and thoughtfully crafted to showcase this innovative leadership to maximum effect, while inspiring alumni, university friends, and industry partners to join in helping realize this vision.
At a pivotal moment for the coffee industry worldwide, the UC Davis Coffee Center is at a key moment in its own trajectory, as it continues its expansion as a global leader in science and education focused on shaping a thriving, more sustainable future for the industry. This case statement was created just prior to the public launch of the university’s historic fundraising campaign. Development and administrative leaders sought a document that would stand out to prospective donors and corporate partners as a one-of-a-kind piece as unique as the center itself. The resulting case for support delivered well beyond these expectations, weaving together persuasive and visionary framing language, richly informed, and thoroughly researched copy, and special design touches, including hand-drawn sketches, to create a truly unique package to inspire philanthropic partnership.
