Come Find Space
From the Nominator
When the UK was in the midst of COVID-19 lockdown, universities were preparing for the sector’s most competitive recruitment period known as Clearing and Adjustment. Inspired by a casual comment that Swansea was probably the best place to social distance due to the city’s easy access to beaches and countryside, the in-house team at Swansea University created the “Come Find Space” video, which took our unique campus location, and tapped into our target market's desire of physical space.
The video framed the idea of “space” on multiple levels, so that the campaign was still relevant to the university’s brand, and it didn’t stray into becoming a destination or tourism campaign. The video focused not only on the physical space but also on personal space, mental space, and space to learn and grow, pushing the message that students will be fully supported to achieve their personal goals.
From the beginning, the pace, energy, and simplicity of the message are conveyed by using kinetic typography supported by its quick, rhythmic, clap/stomp style music, which implies a sense of human presence, collaboration and community: a core element of our Swansea ethos. The music and text double as a visual representation of the message, making it even more dynamic, engaging, and effective in communicating our brand.
From the Judges
We loved the pace, energy, vibe, acoustics. Nice length. Captured the appeal of the location. Timely for the pandemic.
