EnTERPreneur Conference
From the Nominator
For the sixth consecutive year, UMD earned a top 10 ranking in the Princeton Review’s annual survey of top schools for entrepreneurship. In the 2021 rankings, UMD placed No. 6 for undergraduate entrepreneurship education—climbing one spot from last year—and No. 3 among public universities. UMD additionally was listed at No. 23 for graduate entrepreneurship education, marking the ninth consecutive year that the university has been named a top 25 program. Terps have been recognized by DC Inno’s 25 under 25 and through Governor Larry Hogan’s Maryland’s Future 20 companies. Terp start-ups and businesses are thriving at the University of Maryland, in the state of Maryland, and beyond.
The University of Maryland’s inaugural EnTERPreneur Conference was an initiative designed to bring together this thriving group within the EnTERPreneur ecosystem to celebrate the success of these businesses, provide networking opportunities, tools, and resources to continue to equip “EnTERPreneurs” with what they need to continue succeeding. Through this in-person day-long conference, more than 250 Terps attended various panels and workshops, heard from notable Terp business leaders, including Scott Nash, CEO + Founder of MOMs Organic, and networked with fellow entrepreneurs through a campus-wide resource fair and happy hour featuring Terp-owned food and beverage companies.
From the Judges
While this was not a unique event, we felt it was a good example of a conference done well. The inclusion of Terp businesses and alumni throughout was what gave this event an edge.
