This entry is the 2020 design for the Berea College President's Report on Philanthropy: an annual special issue of the Berea College Magazine. It is intended to highlight donors to the college, and their contributions to our unique mission of providing education to students from traditionally underserved populations–especially in the Appalachian region. While the bulk of its content is lists recognizing donors, it also includes special features on significant donors, and reports on the institution's financial well-being.
From the Judges
Very strong piece, boldly conceived, with serious, deliberate intent. Striking cover design. The color overlay with the photography throughout could have easily missed the mark in less skilled design hands, but they work here. The way they use color to flag the reader to the storytelling section is a good navigational tool, and reinforces an identity. Layout with stories interspersed beginning to end keeps the reader engaged. The donor honor roll is also thoughtfully presented and well organized. Nice, clean font choices with spacing that breathes and lets the reader take it in.
