Rock 'n' Roads: Couchella
From the Nominator
At the start of the COVID pandemic, we had to quickly pivot from the in-person concert, Rock 'n' Roads, that we had planned at the Hollywood Palladium on May 15, 2020, to a completely virtual event. We dubbed the new event "Couchella," since we would all be watching it from home. In six weeks, we successfully produced a 1.5 hour show of music and comedy that highlighted the talents of our parent, alumni, parent of alumni, and grandparent community. As these were very early days in the pandemic, there was no way for us to anticipate our community's appetite for philanthropy, and there had been few models for virtual events yet. At a time of despair, isolation and confusion, we were able to provide our community with an uplifting show that helped us all feel connected, from the safety of our couches, while successfully raising critical support for our Financial Aid Fund.
From the Judges
Excellent event, considering having to pivot very early on during the pandemic. Creative name and marketing, and really successful fundraising outcomes.
