Seek magazine
From the Nominator
Seek is Kansas State University's flagship research magazine, and invites readers to “See”“K”-State's research, scholarly activities, and discoveries. Seek combines a variety of written content with creative photography and innovative design to tell the stories of university researchers, and what they have achieved. Each issue of Seek includes a printed magazine, as well as multimedia content available at k-state.edu/seek.
Seek magazine offers a glimpse into the university's world of discovery, shares successes, and explores how some of the leading minds in research and scholarship are working to improve lives in Kansas and around the world.
Our in-house team of writers, designers, and photographers works on a tight budget with limited resources, but we strive to make university research accessible to everybody. We take readers behind the scenes, and bring them into the laboratories, out in the fields, and beyond the classrooms.
Our small team usually publishes Seek magazine twice a year, in the spring and the fall. In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic created unexpected challenges for Seek magazine production, from the university's move to remote operations to printing delays. Our team rose to the challenge and adjusted our strategy to publish one “mega” issue of Seek magazine in 2020. It was a special edition, and larger issue of the magazine that featured important coverage of university research focused on fighting the COVID-19 pandemic in multiple disciplines.
