A Visual Victory: Logo Development for Brown’s Alumni Clubs
From the Nominator
Brown University Alumni Relations requested the creation of a logo and visual identity for Brown University Clubs for alumni across all regions. Prior to this request, each region created its own logos, which caused confusion around the overarching Brown Club brand. Each region used colors and fonts outside of Brown University’s brand standards, and sometimes used the Coat of Arms inappropriately. An identity for the Brown Clubs needed to incorporate the name of the region, adhere to Brown University visual identity standards, and convey the feeling of being part of the Brown community, while having a sense of uniqueness and fun all at the same time. The new logo would also have to be something that Brown clubs would want to adopt. The project was a success, resulting in the creation of an attractive and eye-catching logo that meets university visual identity standards, and that many clubs are now using in their communications.
From the Judges
We were blown-away by the standard of this entry. Congratulations! Excellent research given to selecting the appropriate iconography. Clear connection to the main Institutions brand, and the brand was flexible to work with Browns' Clubs. We were impressed that the visual identity was created in-house, and that no budget allocation was required.
