Bostonia, the Alumni Magazine of Boston University, Winter–Spring 2021
From the Nominator
"Bostonia, Boston University’s flagship alumni magazine, is produced three times a year. We strive to foster and sustain an emotional connection between alumni and the university—and demonstrate BU’s enduring value to alums—by telling stories that reflect the intellectual life and vibrancy of the BU community. We write about the groundbreaking impact of BU scholarship across all academic and professional disciplines, as well as our diverse and distinguished alumni.
We also write about student life, the changing campus, and the many ways BU has become a global research powerhouse. Through intelligent, substantive, and expertly written and edited articles, vivid photography, and energetic design, we are committed to telling the endless stories of Boston University in ways that often are relevant to current social, political, and scientific trends—that aim to inspire, inform, entertain, and spark pride.
Our Winter-Spring 2021 cover reflects our mission. In our cover story, we caught up with five student activists to learn more about what they’re doing and how their activism differs from BU students in the 1960s and 1970s. Students are still raising their voices for many of the same issues, but their methods have changed. Instead of clashing with the university administration, many now draw on their coursework or campus institutions. They may treat the university as an ally, not an opponent. We thought the cover photo of BU student Christa Nuzzo beautifully and dramatically reflected the theme of the piece."
