CFA Magazine; Spring 2021 and Fall 2021
From the Nominator
"The spring 2021 issue’s cover story reflects how CFA magazine features and profiles are a mix of traditional and innovative formats, ranging from an alumni piece presented as a conversation between two artists about their craft in the style of Interview magazine—in this case between two cellist alums who discussed balancing their craft with parenthood—to a recurring feature that follows an artistic process from idea through execution.
The spring 2021 and fall 2021 issues tell the fascinating stories of alumni, faculty, and current students from each of the College of Fine Arts' three schools—the School of Music, School of Visual Arts, and School of Theatre. Some story highlights in the spring and fall 2021 issues include an important piece on the state of music education and the alumni and faculty working to promote diversity and equity in the field, as well as a fun, bold feature on a fashion historian alum that takes readers behind the scenes of her career through five outfits.
Our primary goals for CFA magazine are the following: to amplify the CFA brand to a national audience, engage alums, be accessible and meaningful, present the college as a cohesive community, and establish CFA as a leader among peer institutions. We have met these objectives in the spring 2021 and fall 2021 issues, which emphasize the diversity of voices and perspectives in the CFA community and show how the school prepares its graduates for a breadth of careers and accomplishments."
From the Judges
Wow, very impressive. This combined everything you want to see in a magazine--good writing, good visuals, strong design, sensible organization, and strong engagement. It is obvious that there was a lot of thought and work put into each issue.
