Clark Magazine
From the Nominator
"Clark magazine is the only communication vehicle that reaches all Clark University alumni. The twice-yearly publication honors and celebrates all members of the Clark community: faculty, staff, current students, and, of course, alumni— whether they graduated last year or half a century ago. We devote about 40% of our magazine to four or five meaty anchor stories, which include profiles of impressive alumni, history pieces, and explorations of faculty research.
The Clark community is our obvious target audience. We also want to tell the Clark story to those who don’t know it, while we validate the Clark story for those who have lived it. We strive to publish a magazine that will even engage readers with no affiliation to Clark: an alum’s family members and friends, for instance, or the patients of a doctor (and Clark grad) who puts the magazine in his waiting room. We produce a range of stories in each issue that appeal to all interests, punctuated by a bold design and striking photography."
From the Judges
Truly outstanding in writing and design, with great photography. Content focuses on Clark as an institution and also the people who make Clark special. Love "The long goodbye of a good man" piece. We admired the publication’s agile switch to a pandemic cover story from the intended tribute to the outgoing president and that both articles turned out strong and engaging. Overall, great use of resources.
