Class of 1971: 50 Years Later Documentary Video
From the Nominator
"We produced a 15-minute documentary film to celebrate and honor the Class of 1971. The documentary includes interviews with six different graduates from the Class of 1971, exploring topics such as the Vietnam War, hippie movement, cultural shifts, women empowerment, and the unifying college experience. We partnered with University of Colorado (CU) Boulder’s Heritage Center for historical photographs and assets included in the video. Our interviewees from the Class of 1971 were invited back to campus and asked to reflect on their time at CU Boulder.
This video premiered at our Class of 1971 reunion during homecoming weekend 2021 and was emailed to the entire Class of 1971 following the event. We also shared the film on our online network, internal advancement communications, and featured it in campus newsletters to maximize engagement and impact.
The purpose of this documentary was to congratulate and recognize the Class of 1971 and provide a unique and inclusive opportunity for all of the class to engage. We also hoped it would allow them to feel connected to their alma mater and proud to be a CU graduate.
This was an added feature to our 50-year reunion program to specifically engage and accommodate attendees that did not feel comfortable traveling back to campus during the COVID-19 pandemic."
