Class of 1980 Impact Report: “Kaufmania Goes to Europe” Scholarship
From the Nominator
"Established by the Class of 1980 in the College of Architecture and Environmental Design, the “Kaufmania Goes to Europe” Scholarship assists architecture students with financial need to study abroad in Florence, Italy. This custom impact report was created to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the scholarship and inspire further philanthropy during the university’s annual Giving Tuesday campaign.
Our goal was to capture the scholarship’s unique story and share its impact on Kent State students--many of whom face challenges similar to those Kaufman experienced more than 40 years ago. The report includes the scholarship’s quirky origin, messages from past and current scholars, imagery from study away experiences, global education program highlights, and a call to action for the Class of 1980, asking for their continued support of this life-changing scholarship. We chose to use a digital platform so it could be used to steward current donors and cultivate future donors during the pandemic. It was a privilege to share this “portrait of generosity” and help grow this endowed scholarship."
From the Judges
This was a really creative and touching report that could make someone who has zero affiliation with Kent State feel connected and spur interest in supporting the institutional mission. The stories capture attention and demonstrate the impact that gifts have made possible. Content is tastefully designed and has a wonderful energy that gives a sense of wonder and satisfaction. There is a terrific use of self-portraits, photos, and comments. Even the last page "Thank You" is compelling.
