Global impact map
From the Nominator
"Cambridge University’s Global Impact Map is a stand-alone website for exploring the impact of Cambridge research from the Arctic to Zambia, using a growing library of 165 case studies covering 110 countries or regions worldwide. The Global Impact Map was created as a flagship moment to highlight the university's world-changing work. It is directed toward a defined audience of policymakers, potential research partners, funders, and philanthropists through a social media campaign.
The homepage features a dynamic map with dots representing impact across the world. Built with a simple, clear, and on-brand design, the map allows users to select case studies by hovering over dots, or to use the drop-down intuitive navigation system to select by country or type of impact. The exact positioning of each dot is driven with a Google maps API to keep the resource dynamic and easy to administer. Each case study has a relevant image, short summary, information on people, places, and partners, and related links for those seeking to find out more. Behind this sits a new content-management system that continues to grow as new projects are added.
The micro-site is now promoted on top-level institutional pages across the university. As of 1 March, the map has had 32,300 page views (26,300 unique page views)."
