Howard Magazine: 2021 Issues
From the Nominator
"Howard Magazine is the official alumni magazine for Howard University, one of the country's leading historically Black colleges and universities. Recently redesigned to reflect a new path that Howard has embarked upon, we recognized how important this magazine was to Howard and the greater African American community who looks to Howard for guidance and credibility.
We celebrate the diversity within Howard's own community and its wide range of expertise and knowledge that grows within its walls and beyond among its alumni and friends. We bring those diverse perspectives and experiences to the pages of the magazine. Each issue covers relevant topics in today's media and of particular relevance to the African American community, with members of the Howard community propelling the exchange of ideas and debate through our magazine."
From the Judges
The magazine is highly engaging, with timely and topical content. The magazine talks about Howard’s people and Howard as an institution. It’s exciting that the two issues submitted mark the magazine’s comeback, and their success is achieving support by Howard members for the magazine and even in contributing content to it. Strong and impactful photography, and original illustrations and clean design. Great piece on Kamala Harris, and a thoughtful one with great storytelling about how the portrait of Jill Biden came to be.
