Painting "En Plein Air" From a Tiny House
From the Nominator
"Painting 'En Plein Air' From a Tiny House" profiles artist Chris Rodiger. Following a metastatic cancer diagnosis, Chris turned to painting as a means of therapy and escape. After months of treatment, his cancer went into remission, and Chris committed himself to painting outside every single day: rain, snow, or shine. He wanted to dive into the landscapes he was painting, so he designed and built the Beehive. The Beehive is a tiny wooden structure bolted to the bed of Chris’ Ford Ranger. Beginning in the summer of 2021, Chris drove his Beehive up the rugged coast of Maine, celebrating his life through painting.
From the Judges
This was a very interesting short film/documentary. We all enjoyed learning how this pieced tied into the endowment fund. The filming and video shots that were captured were nicely done.
