President's Council Annual Dinner (Homecoming Weekend)
From the Nominator
"The President’s Council Annual Dinner is an upscale event held every year for all of the Purdue PC Members (essentially, the highest level of philanthropic donors for the university). In coordination with the Office of Special Events, the Purdue for Life MarCom team assisted with the creation of designed environmental signage to thematically brand the event.
This year’s event for 2021 was branded “Together Again.” All guests to the campus event were asked to comply with all Protect Purdue guidelines. Our challenge this year was a simple theme of together again. We chose hexagonal shapes because they are in-brand and they represent the feeling of people being together in-person, and the strength of that sense of shared community. We created environmental signage outdoor and indoor for the event. The outdoor signage was a way to promote the impact the President’s Council donors have at Purdue in a visual way. Because this was outdoors, attendees and passersby had access to these statistics and images.
These images directly correlated to the Purdue for Life video, which encompasses President’s Council, that attendees viewed at the beginning of the programming as well. The indoor signage was a way to brand the event, but also create a unique and stylistic showcase of the event theme and signage. We wanted the event branding to be a part of the event collateral, but also as a part of the decor and as a show-stopping installation."
From the Judges
This is a great example of just right execution. Each hexagon was thoughtfully planned with either type or image and didn’t have too much crammed in so that the whole set works well together. We particularly liked how the signage worked into the event surroundings (garden, ceilings).
