"As part of welcome week for our new students, Missouri State holds it's new student convocation. As part of this high-energy event, the university invites a person from the campus or Springfield community to address those in attendance.
This past year, Missouri State asked its well-known head women's basketball coach, Coach Mox, if she would deliver the convocation speech. As an introduction to this message, we filmed a short video with Mox and University President Clif Smart. Because we wanted to incorporate basketball, we thought it would be fun to create a throwback parody of the popular McDonald's commercial, The Showdown, between Michael Jordan and Larry Bird and then the remake with Dwight Howard and LeBron James. Just a little friendly competition, with the winner getting the rewards of fries and Bear sauce (a popular dip in our dining halls).
We obviously aimed to have a little fun with this one. Both showed up for this friendly competition."
