THANKS+GIVING, 2022 SLCC Employee Giving Week
From the Nominator
"THANKS+GIVING, the 2022 South Louisiana Community College (SLCC) Employee Giving Week campaign, took place the week after the college Thanksgiving break, which gave us the unique opportunity to expand the season of thanks and gratitude at SLCC.
To kick off the week, the college heard from employees who give to each area of investment, including a staff member who contributes to a scholarship fund in memory of her mother and a faculty member who knew his funds supported a co-worker who was affected by Hurricane Ida. The development team then spent the week visiting each of SLCC's eight campuses while hosting a Pie It Forward event for employees. We strove to catch SLCC employees’ attention in areas other than their inboxes, including their desk, the welding facility, and a helicopter pad. Employees were thanked for the work they do each day--beyond giving deeply of themselves, but also generously supporting the mission of the college by participating in the employee giving campaign.
The genuineness created generosity. Through conversations and stories, charity and gratitude was integrated into the SLCC culture. This allowed us to remove the question of whether or not to give and instead focus on how much to give. Regardless of the amount, employees were educated on the transformation that would come from their transaction. THANKS+GVIING, SLCC Employee Giving Week had the highest percentage of employee givers in the history of the college and raised a total of $26,418.68 dollars from one-time donors and yearly payroll deduction plans."
From the Judges
Excellent commitment to building the culture of philanthropy from within and producing tremendous results in terms of participation rate. We were very impressed with the 76% participation rate and the creativity of the Pie It Forward campaign. The results were more impressive considering it was done in a week-long program. This campaign can certainly serve as a model to be replicated by other institutions.
