Wallace J. Hagedorn Trust Impact Report
From the Nominator
Established by a bequest, the Wallace J. Hagedorn Photography Scholarship is a competitive scholarship supporting tuition and enriching, out-of-classroom experiences that help photography students develop strong portfolios. Each year, the Division of Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement (DPAE), in collaboration with faculty in the College of Communication and Information (CCI), creates a customized report that highlights the impact of Mr. Hagedorn’s philanthropy, showcases student work, and expresses our gratitude. The report includes messages from Kent State photojournalism and photography professors, program highlights, quotes and headshots from Hagedorn Scholars, fund stewardship details, and photographs taken by Hagedorn Scholars. Because this scholarship was established by a bequest, the report is sent to the trust officer of the Wallace J. Hagedorn Trust. In 2021, the trust officer was unable to make her annual visit to campus because of the ongoing pandemic, so we brought the photography professors, the students, and their work to the trust officer through this report.
From the Judges
Gathering student stories via Qualtrics was brilliantly efficient, and responses can be repurposed. The concept of photographer, their photographs, and comments was highly effective. Colorful presentation with plenty of white space accentuates the photos and contributes to a beautifully designed piece filled with great impact stories. The clear objective and simple presentation represents a very good use of resources.
