""We Are Hamilton" is a special edition of Hamilton magazine. Plans for it began almost a year before its publication, with our editorial team discussing how we might address the topic of growing racial tensions in the wake of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and the killings of other Black individuals. After some discussion--and with the assistance of an incredible alumna guest editor--we garnered support from College administrators to devote an entire issue to the voices of more than two dozen alumni and community members who shared what it means to them to be Black in America.
Our hope was that the contributors' reflections would spark ongoing conversations. This was indeed the outcome. The edition generated more letters to the editor than any topic we've written about previously and many requests for copies, including one from the New York State Board of Regents. A short feature on "We Are Hamilton" was featured in Inside Higher Ed. In addition, we used the magazine as a springboard to host virtual discussion groups with students and alumni. These were well-attended and prompted others to tell their own stories."

In a year where this important topic was discussed, we felt that this issue stood out from all the others. It was beautifully laid out with very strong photography and the stories were told through a variety of voices. Well done.
