130 Years of Women at Brown
From the Nominator
"Brown University's “130 Years of Women at Brown” year-long virtual conference is an example of a creative program that has the ability to serve as a model for other institutions. Alumnae came together during a yearlong event series hosted by the Brown Women’s Network.
In a series of 22 special events during the 2022 academic year, the Brown Women’s Network honored the generations of Brunonian women who have been pioneers in their fields, inspired others, and made a difference in their communities and the world at large.
A range of speakers reached more than 3,100 women of Brown across the globe through online and in-person programming, honoring the triumphs and challenges of Brown women—including women of color, women from the LGBTQIA+ community, and disabled women. Programming contributed to deepening the understanding of the varied experiences of women at Brown and helping Brown alumnae forge new bonds while examining the evolving role of women at Brown."
