Homecoming Parade Livestream
From the Nominator
Mizzou’s homecoming is celebrated as both the first of its kind and, as we see it, the best there is. Alumni flock to campus to enjoy a wide series of events, all culminating at Faurot Field on game day. One limitation of homecoming is baked into its name—it requires alumni to return to campus to enjoy campus activities, leaving out engagement opportunities for Tigers worldwide who support their alma mater but who are unable to return to campus in person. To improve engagement and bring the campus to alumni, the Mizzou Alumni Association team created a parade livestream show to open the campus up to thousands of distant Tigers for an engaging, value-added experience. More than a live stream alone, local talent took the stage for a curated view of the parade, complete with man-on-the-street camera angles and campus celebrity cameos, all powered by Facebook Live and Facebook Events. The live stream reached 34.5K on Facebook.
From the Judges
The judges applaud the creativity of making the live stream engaging with the viewers' experience as the top goal instead of simply streaming the live event. Judges thought it was great to create a contest during the parade to further engage virtual attendees to feel as if they are a part of the experience, not an afterthought.
