From the Nominator

"Change, imagination, and innovation were central themes for Milton Academy in 2022. As we settled into our post-COVID-19 "new normal," faculty and administrators continued to glean lessons from the pandemic, push for innovation in all areas, and evaluate what education means at this point in history. In the spring, Milton Magazine focused on imagination. We featured four alumni pushing boundaries and asking big questions in history, art, design, and science. Our on-campus stories delved into imagination in science—how students use science to consider the major social issues confronting society—and how the teachers serving our youngest students are building lifelong readers.   

In the fall issue, education took center stage. We featured alumni whose roles in schools and education are varied and exciting, including those who've dedicated their philanthropic careers to expanding opportunities for under-resourced schools and students, a university professor tackling the issues of race and gender while caring for her students' well-being, and public school educators contending with post-pandemic issues. With our campus stories, we highlighted the critical roles athletic coaches play in the lives of student-athletes, efforts to destigmatize mental health issues in our middle school, and the connection between learning history and understanding identity. This was also an exciting time to introduce several new leaders in our community, including the next head of school and our new upper school principal."

Milton Magazine is a well-designed and well-written magazine. With its elegant design and smart writing, this magazine has all the hallmarks of a commercial publication. The variety of art and illustration, including the use of charts, boxes, numbers, and pull quotes, adds an extra level of interest and depth to the content. The feature stories written by the editor and associate editor were particularly enjoyable, providing insightful and engaging content that is sure to captivate readers.
