"We Need You to Be Builders"
From the Nominator
"Each year, we produce an opening video for our Charter Day ceremony, the anniversary of the university's founding. The video is an opportunity for us to market the university's messaging.
For our 2022 ceremony, the president was set to role out the university's new strategic plan, Vision 2026. With the video, it was important for us to visually hit upon the themes of Vision 2026. The strategic plan gave us a framework to impart visual cues to our university's goals (e.g., Expand W&M's Reach, Educated for Impact and Evolve to Excel) and initiatives (e.g., Data, Water, Democracy and Career).
During our 2021 convocation, Judge John Charles Thomas recited "The Builders" by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. We thought it would be a unique narrative for the video that would call for our William & Mary community to help build the future of the institution.
The video first premiered at the 2022 Charter Day ceremony to a crowd of approximately 1.5K. The video has over 2K views on YouTube with further engagement on other social channels."
From the Judges
