A Week of Impact: NTU Service Week 2022
From the Nominator
"NTU University Advancement Office (UAO) organized a first-ever NTU Service Week (Jan. 22-29, 2022) that galvanized the NTU community. The event is one of three flagship service projects for NTU’s inaugural We Belong campaign, an anchor event celebrating NTU’s 30th Anniversary by gathering the NTU family to make a positive impact in society.
The event mobilized students, alumni, faculty, and staff to come together to collaborate with community partners to organize initiatives that serve the community and make a difference in the lives of the less privileged and the community at large both in Singapore and overseas. The event focused on where alumni were based and thereby influenced NTU’s wider community to give back to society through volunteerism.
In alignment with the NTU 2025 strategic plan, which serves as the university’s roadmap to transform its education ecosystem, the NTU Service Week projects matched up to four causes—digital inclusion, health and well-being, social welfare, and sustainability.
All engagement goals were tied to NTU’s 30th Anniversary and well exceeded. Five hundred eighty-seven volunteers participated in 63 service projects completing 3,343 volunteer hours, and funds raised to match the number of volunteer hours was $5,000."
From the Judges
Nayang Technological University took a traditional volunteer engagement initiative, a week of Service, and made it into an inclusive and impactful opportunity for individuals and groups both near and far. In line with the mission of the institution, they used technology to propel this initiative forward from having a clever application to a robust set of offerings that allowed people to participate both near and far. We also felt they were able to clearly and impressively demonstrate the impact of this initiative in their supporting data.
