Accessibility and Inclusivity Guide for UC Davis Communicators
From the Nominator
The Accessibility and Inclusivity Guide is a comprehensive online resource developed by members of the UC Davis Strategic Communications team. The guide encompasses best practices concerning accessibility and inclusivity for communicators producing content for news, marketing, social media, and web. As the central communications hub at UC Davis, the Office of Strategic Communications provides training, resources, and guidance for the entire campus. The Accessibility and Inclusivity Guide is an internally focused resource that the more than 150 other communicators on campus can use as they create their own content. The guide is part of the university communicators' efforts to more inclusively represent the UC Davis community and create content that is accessible for all.
From the Judges
UC Davis identified a problem, worked with other departments to develop best practices, and created a guide. It’s important to have a centralized place for information detailing what is and is not expectable regarding social media or other communications. This was done with only an investment of time.
