Princeton Arts Fellows
From the Nominator
In crafting this video, our primary objective was to spotlight the contributions of two visiting artist fellows within the Lewis Center for the Arts at Princeton University. We emphasized their efforts to enhance accessibility and raise awareness about disabilities. To achieve this, we filmed classes led by Maysoon, a comedian and actor who has cerebral palsy, and Christopher, a choreographer and performer who has vision loss. We also gathered materials showcasing various events they organized on campus and conducted interviews with them and the program directors who selected them as fellows. The narrative woven throughout the video illustrates the ongoing journey towards greater accessibility and awareness within the Lewis Center. Inclusivity was paramount, so we created versions of the video for those with vision or hearing loss. This required additional time and funding but was a foundational part of the project. Along with highlighting these two very accomplished artists, the video communicated an important message: that the Lewis Center welcomes diversity among students, faculty, staff, fellows, and public audiences and makes an effort to accommodate all people according to their unique needs.
