Service Now Montage Video
From the Nominator
Business Services at the University of Melbourne was concerned that the academic and professional staff weren’t accessing the essential services they offered. A team led by Client Services Director Chris van der Weyden set out to rectify this problem with an entertaining "public service announcement" campaign. They reached out to video/media university staff to help them transform dry content into attention-grabbing videos. The goal was for all staff to know that they have a clear point of contact when they face common technical hurdles in everyday work life. Senior Video Producer Sascha White suggested using comedy to make the common scenarios more memorable. Working with a comedian, he came up with three setups that had distinctive and entertaining visual styles. He also brought in a musician to compose a catchy jingle. The video and media team pitched their concept to Business Services staff, and they loved it. The result was a suite of nine "Service Now" videos, plus a bonus montage video for promotion (submitted for this nomination). This video has been distributed on the university’s Staff Hub and Business Services web pages and through other internal channels. The feedback from the university community has been overwhelmingly positive, with the common observation that the video stands out because it is funny and different than the standard dry fare of internal communications.
